Histapenia (low histamine)
What is histapenia?
Histapenia is a genetic metabolic/biochemical issue involving an irregularity of too many methyl groups which are lowering histamine levels. Excess copper levels can also lower histamine levels, it is very common to have excess copper levels along with the histapenia issue. Not only is histamine involved in inflammatory responses but it also acts as a neurotransmitter which is why imbalances can affect brain chemistry. |
Histapenia testing
Testing for histadelia involves a blood test to check histamine levels to determine whether or not the histamine level is below the normal range. If the histamine blood level is below range then a basophil blood test will be required in order to make the histadelia diagnosis affirmative. Basophil blood count levels are low in those who have histapenia. The basophil blood test is important because low histamine blood levels can sometimes be due to other factors. Another important test is the hair mineral test to analyse copper status. Excess copper in the body can break down too much histamine. Histapenia treatment
Treatment for histapenia involves dietary changes, lifestyle changes and supplement use to correct certain biochemical imbalances and to increase histamine levels. If a positive histapenia diagnosis is made then a treatment programme is sent in the results email.
